Who We Are
In 1977, the Friends of Schuyler Mansion was organized to help the State of New York maintain Schuyler Mansion as an historic house museum and was incorporated as a not-for-profit educational corporation by the New York State Education Department the same year.
Since that time, the Friends have donated numerous books, maps, and other resources to the site's extensive research library; they have purchased textiles, wallpaper, objects and other furnishings for rooms in the mansion; encouraged the donation of historical objects to Schuyler Mansion's collections, and have recently contributed to the purchase of two Schuyler family portraits by Thomas Sully.
The Friends also provide valuable assistance to staff at special events such as "Salutations of the Season!" and "Historically Speaking" reenactments. They are active participants at fund raisers and also host several Schuyler family reunions and receptions for the public, official guests, and museum organizations.

Mission
The Friends of Schuyler Mansion is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) volunteer organization whose purpose is to promote the restoration, conservation, educational and cultural programs of Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site. The Friends also seek to increase public interest in this site, and develop an awareness and appreciation of 18th century history as it relates to the Schuyler family, the city of Albany, and the Upper Hudson River Valley region. In order to carry out its mission, the Friends of Schuyler Mansion encourages volunteerism and provides staff support, as well as raises funds through membership dues, grants, and fundraising events.

Thanks For Your Support
Now that the NYS Legislature has approved a bill that has reopened over 50 parks and historic sites around the state, Schuyler Mansion will once again open the shutters, unlock the front door, and prepare to greet the myriad of visitors that visit the site to learn about Revolutionary War General Philip Schuyler.
This is because of YOUR support and efforts on our behalf and the Friends of Schuyler Mansion would like to thank everyone who assisted in protecting Schuyler Mansion and all NYS cultural heritage sites. Whether you attended a rally, signed a petition, or called your Assemblyman or Senator, the result is that these very important places are again available to the public as intended.
Thank you again for your support of Schuyler Mansion.
