President's Message
Welcome to the Friends of Schuyler Mansion web site. For over three decades, our group has maintained a strong working relationship with the site manager and staff of Schuyler Mansion, working towards a unified goal: to support the collection and preservation of history as related to American Revolutionary War Major-General Philip J. Schuyler and his family. We also assist with the restoration of Schuyler Mansion, Schuyler's impressive 18th-century Georgian-style home.
Through a variety of venues, we raise funds for the development of programs and educational initiatives supported by the New York State office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation at this site. All revenue generated by membership dues, item sales, contributions, and fundraising have been allocated to exhibits, programs, the purchase of artifacts and furnishings, and other worthy causes throughout the years.
Our most recent affair, a memorial tribute to Virginia B. Bowers who, among her many civic positions, was a former member and treasurer of the Friends, generated revenue that will be utilized for the future restoration of the blue parlor at Schuyler Mansion.
Please consider joining the Friends of Schuyler Mansion. We are an all-volunteer organization, whose members possess a varied range of interests related to achieving our goals. In addition to our annual membership meeting in May, the Friends conduct bi-monthly meetings of the Board of Trustees, support committee activities, and publish a quarterly Friends of Schuyler Mansion newsletter. Events for 2010 planned by our organization and the staff will soon be found on the "Events" link of this web site - be sure to bookmark us and check back!
Historically and very truly yours,
Charles J. Zimmerman
